Howto: Ad-Aware SE 1.06
Install
Ad-Aware SE is available on
our FTP site.
Read the software agreements and install the software in the default location.
Ad-Aware has been updated to version 1.06; please be sure to download and
install this new version. The lower right-hand corner of the application shows
the version of software you are currently using.
Open Ad-Aware SE using the desktop icon or by going to Start -> Programs ->
Ad-Aware SE Personal
Update
The reference file should be within three weeks of the current date (DD.MM.YYYY
format).
Click here to download the latest reference file to your desktop
Copy the file to C:/Program Files/Lavasoft/Ad-Aware SE Personal and replace the existing file
Close and reopen the AdawareSE application
Scan
Click the Start button to begin scanning for spyware
The scan could take from five minutes to one hour depending on the speed of your
computer
When the scan completes click the Next button
Right-click in the Scanning Results window and click Select all
objects
Click Next and then OK
Ad-aware will quarantine all the files it found; a restart may be required to
remove some files. Ad-Aware will run the next time you restart your computer
Maintenance
It is a good idea to run Ad-Aware periodically on your computer to remove spyware. Every time you run the program, be sure to click Check for updates
now to get the latest reference file and remove the most recent spyware.
*Programs such as KaZaA, Gnutella, Limewire, Morpheus,
DirectConnect, etc are bundled with spyware. Removing the spyware
often cripples these programs.
