What is the
StudentNet?
The SAU StudentNet is the residential computer
network service provided to students living at St.
Ambrose University. StudentNet lets you connect your
personal computer directly to SAU's computer network
and, through the University network, to the
Internet. Information Technology supports StudentNet
and the rest of the campus network equipment.
Where is the StudentNet available?
StudentNet is available in the following buildings:
Andrews House, Bechtel Hall, Cosgrove Hall, Davis
Hall, Hagen Hall, Hayes Hall, New Hall, Rohlman
Hall, Tiedemann Hall, Schneider House, Sudbrook
House, Strub House. The
temporary houses will be coming online
soon!
What do I need to do if I am bringing a computer
on campus?
When you arrive on campus, simply setup your
computer, plug into the orange port using an
Ethernet cable and visit the StudentNet
website at
http://studentnet.sau.edu. This web site
contains all the information you will need to get
your computer online.
What are the system requirements?
We only provide setup instructions for Windows
and MacOS, but any device that supports Ethernet and TCP/IP should work with our equipment.
How do I register my computer?
Visit the registration page:
http://mars.sau.edu
What if
I can only view SAU websites?
Please
register your computer; it can take up to
one hour for your
connection to become fully active. Be sure to restart
your computer before calling Information Technology
or your RA for help.
What if I can't view any websites and I get
connection errors?
Contact your RA or Information Technology to
obtain a StudentNet CD. This CD contains information
to troubleshoot your connection and computer for
potential problems.
How do I register my game console?
Go to the registration page and an
option will appear for game consoles. If you do not
have a computer you may use an on-campus lab to
register your hardware address.
How do I find the MAC/hardware address for my
XBox, PS2, etc?
https://mars.sau.edu
What if I can't sign in to the registration page?
Be sure you are using your network username
and password. If you continue to have problems,
please visit the Information Technology Office in
lower Cosgrove; don't forget to bring a picture ID.
Is wireless available in the residence halls?
Information Technology does not provide wireless
in the residence halls. Public wireless access is
available in the Rogalski Center. We do allow
students to setup their own wireless access provided
it is setup securely and does not interfere with
other students.
Read more about wireless access.
Where do I download Symantec AntiVirus?

Do I
have to reregister if I move?
No*. If you are moving from room to room or hall
to hall you should not have to reregister your
computer; registration is for your system, not the
individual port.
*If you move from a temporary house to a residence
hall or vice versa you may need to reregister;
Information Technology is still working on the
possibility of creating a unified system.
What do
I do if I live in a house?
Please visit the
Temporary Housing pages for the latest
information.
